Yoga For ALL bodies

live on Zoom— camera optional

Wednesdays 7:00pm

If you've ever felt like you didn't "belong" in a yoga class, then I designed this class for you!

This is gentle, non-scary, non-competitive yoga, offered via Zoom. It’s donation-based, so pay what you can. Get all the benefits of live instruction and all the privacy of practicing with a video. You don’t even have to turn on your camera.

Hi, I’m Rachel

Rachel Grubbs, Registered Yoga Teacher, Yoga For All Certified Instructor, and Accessible Yoga Ambassador

My goal is to offer classes that meet you where you are (now), in the body you inhabit (today). You can do yoga with me regardless of your size, shape, age, flexibility, or strength.

Joining a Polaris Yoga class means you get:

  • gentle instruction

  • clear non-judgmental cues

  • lots of options for each pose

You can practice live with me, or you can practice with recordings on your own schedule, all from the privacy and comfort of your own home.

Actual Beginners Welcome

Some yoga classes that claim to be open to “beginners” still assume that the beginner is young, able-bodied, and physically fit. That can result in you feeling awkward, ashamed, or ignored in class—or worse, maybe singled out!

My philosophy is that yoga is for everyone! My class is designed for everyone, including people who exist in:

  • larger bodies

  • older bodies

  • inflexible bodies

  • recovering bodies

  • disabled bodies

  • bodies that don’t get a chance to move that much

Whether you’re looking for a safe, nonjudgmental entry point into gentle movement, or you’re an advanced yoga practitioner looking for a place to stretch and relax, I hope you’ll join me!

FAQ

  • YouTube videos are static - they are prerecorded with a certain audience in mind. A class with me is customized to my students and their specific needs.

When you sign up to do yoga with me, I’ll ask you to complete a short new student form so I can learn about your history with movement and any conditions you have that might impact your practice.

For each class, I consider who is in the room and how they may need to approach certain poses. I will never single you out, but I’ll make sure your body is considered when I’m offering poses and variations.

  • No! You don’t need the names of the poses in Sanskrit or in English. I will cue you based on how to place your body. I like to name the poses too, so you may learn some names along the way, but you don’t need to know any of them to participate in my class.

  • Believe it or not, flexibility is not required to do yoga. I'll show you how to do poses that meet where you are, now, in the body you inhabit, today - regardless of size, shape, age, and flexibility or strength.

  • No! Props are great but they can be expensive. If you’ve got a blanket or a towel, you’ll be all set.

  • Yes, tuition includes a recording of the session which is sent within 24 hours. You can practice live with me, or on your own with the recording, or both!

  • I want this class to be accessible to as many people as possible, including cost! The recommended drop in tuition is $10 for a 60-minute class and that includes the link to the recording. Pay what you can, when you can.
